Many customers have asked about the differences between KVVR and RVV. Below are some comparisons and differences between the two.

1. Name Differences:

KVVR stands for Copper Core PVC Insulated and Sheathed Control Flexible Cable

RVV stands for Copper Core PVC Insulated and Sheathed Flexible Cable

K: Control Cable

V: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Insulation

V: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Sheath

R: Flexible Cable

Simply put, KVVR belongs to the control cable series. RVV belongs to the ordinary wire series, also known as power cord or soft sheathed cable.

2. Product Standard Differences:

KVVR Cable Standard: GB/T 9330.2-2008

RVV Wire Standard: GB/T 5023-2008 JB/T 8734-2016

3. Core Differences:

KVVR core range: 2 to 61 cores;

RVV core range: 2 to 45 cores;

4. Rated Voltage Differences:

KVVR control cables are suitable for circuits with a rated voltage of 450V/750V and below;

RVV cables are primarily suitable for circuits with a rated voltage of 300V/500V and below;

5. Product Structure Differences:

KVVR Cable Structure:

Conductor: Type 5 flexible stranded copper conductor

Insulation: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Filling: Polypropylene Mesh Ripcord

Outer Sheath: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

RVV Cable Structure:

Conductor: Type 5 Soft Copper Conductor

Insulation: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Filling: Polypropylene Mesh Ripcord

Outer Sheath: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

As shown in the figure above, the conductor structure and materials of the two cables are largely the same, but the raw material of the PVC outer sheath is different. Therefore, in most cases, KVVR control cable can replace RVV cable.

6. Differences in Application:

KVVR control cable is primarily suitable for indoor applications, such as pipelines, where flexibility is required and cannot withstand significant mechanical forces.

RVV cable is primarily suitable for various transmission lines, electrical equipment, instrumentation, automation equipment, security and burglar alarm systems, high-rise building intercom systems, home lighting connections, and other applications.
