Shielded twisted pair (STP), also known as shielded twisted pair (TTP), is a flexible copper-core cable used for signal transmission. Shielded twisted pair (TTP) incorporates a tinned copper wire shield (some also include an aluminum foil wrapping) between the twisted pair and the outer insulation jacket. This shield reduces signal transmission loss, shields against external interference, reduces radiation, and prevents eavesdropping, enabling TTP to achieve higher transmission rates. Shielding reduces attenuation and noise, thereby providing a cleaner electronic signal.
Twisted pair cables come in a wide variety of specifications. Here are some common models. Specifications refer to the size of the core wires, and each model has a variety of different specifications, so I won't list them all here.
RVVPS
RVVPS is a copper-core, PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed, shielded twisted pair cable suitable for electrical devices and instruments with rated voltages of 450/750V or less for AC or 1000V or less for DC. It is primarily used for power lines and signal control systems in intelligent buildings and building automation systems. Other variants include ZR-RVVPS and NH-RVVPS. Note: The RVVPS model is the standard designation in the national standard. Other names used in the industry include RVSP and RVVSP, all of which refer to RVVPS.
TRVVPS
TRVVPS is a copper-core, nitrile polyethylene (NPB) insulated, NPB-sheathed, shielded, twisted-pair drag chain cable. Installed in a drag chain box, it offers exceptional flexibility, tensile strength, and abrasion resistance, and is commonly used in industrial automation production.
SF/UTP shielded twisted-pair cable
SF/UTP shielded twisted-pair cable consists of an aluminum foil + copper wire mesh shielding. It is a type of double-shielded twisted-pair cable and does not require a grounding wire as a drain wire. The copper wire mesh is very tough and resistant to breaking, so it acts as a drain wire for the aluminum foil layer. In the event of a break, the wire mesh will keep the foil layers connected. F2/UTP Shielded Twisted Pair Cable
F2/UTP shielded twisted pair cable has an overall shield consisting of two conductive layers of aluminum foil facing each other, making it a type of double-shielded twisted pair cable. Its grounding wire is located between the two conductive layers. This double conductive layer design prevents electromagnetic leakage caused by the conductive layer turning outward during shielding.
S/FTP Shielded Twisted Pair Cable
S/FTP shielded twisted pair cable is a double-shielded twisted pair cable with a braided overall shield and aluminum foil shields between each pair. It is considered the most effective shielding structure for twisted pair cables. It is commonly used in Category 7 and Category 7A shielded twisted pair cables, and can also be used in Category 6A shielded twisted pair cables.
