YZ cable is a medium-duty rubber-sheathed cable with a heavy-duty rated voltage of 300/500V. Below, Cable Bao will explain what YZ cable is, what YZ cable model numbers mean, and the difference between YZ cable and YC cable.

1. What is YZ cable?

YZ cable stands for medium-duty general-purpose rubber-sheathed cable, commonly known as a type of rubber-sheathed cable. YZ cable is suitable for household appliances, power tools, various portable electrical equipment, or light portable electrical equipment with a rated AC voltage of 450/750V or below, as well as for temporary on-site construction. It can withstand significant external forces and has a certain degree of oil and weather resistance for outdoor use or exposure to oil and dirt. The long-term operating temperature of the YZW cable core must not exceed 60°C.

Y - Rubber Insulation

Z - Medium-Duty Cable (300/500V)

W - Outdoor Weather Resistance

Rubber-sheathed cables are divided into heavy-duty cables (YC cables), medium-duty cables (YZ cables), and light-duty cables (YQ cables).

YZ cable insulation is made of pure natural rubber, and the conductor is an oxygen-free copper rod with excellent conductivity.

II. YZ Cable Specifications and Models

YC cables are primarily multi-core cables, with 2-core, 3-core, 4-core, and 5-core cables being common. The copper core area ranges from 0.75 to several dozen square meters.

III. Differences between YC and YJV Cables

1. The copper wires in YJV cables are hard, while those in YC cables are soft. A 10mm² YJV cable consists of 10 copper wires, while a 10mm² YC cable may consist of 100 copper wires, each as thin as a human hair. Alternatively, a YJV cable may be made of 50% brass and 50% copper, while a YC cable must be made entirely of copper.

2. YJV is a cross-linked polyethylene insulated power cable with a rated voltage of 0.6/1 kV, typically used in fixed installations. YC is a rubber insulated cable with a rated voltage of 450/750 V, typically used in mobile installations, and is pollution-resistant.

3. YJV cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable has a minimum wire diameter of 16 square meters, an ambient temperature of 25°C, and an operating temperature of 80°C. YC is a standard rubber cable that can withstand significant mechanical forces, is weather-resistant, and has a certain degree of oil resistance. It has a minimum wire diameter of 2.5 square meters, an ambient temperature of 25°C, and an operating temperature of 65°C.

4. Usage: YJV is for long-term fixed use, while YC is for temporary use. Service Life: YJV has a PVC sheath with a durability of up to 50 years. YC temporary cable has a rubber jacket for ease of use and a durability of 10-20 years.
