What is the basic definition of power cable?

Power cable refers to cables used to transmit and distribute high-power electrical energy in the main lines of a power system. These cables include power cables with various voltage levels and insulation, ranging from 1 to 500 kV and above.

The term "power cable" generally refers to fixed-installation extruded-insulated power cables with rated voltages of 1 to 35 kV. This does not include high-voltage, extra-high-voltage, or ultra-high-voltage cables with rated voltages above 35 kV. It also does not include cables designed for special installation and operating conditions, such as overhead cables, cables used in the mining industry, underwater cables in nuclear power plants (in and around the containment), or cables used on ships.
