What is the function of a cable sheath?

The cable sheath is one of the three main components of a cable. Its primary function is to protect the internal structure from mechanical damage and various environmental factors (such as water, sunlight, biological damage, and fire) during installation and operation, thereby maintaining long-term stable electrical performance.

When the neutral point of a 13.1kV power supply and below is directly grounded, how should the number of cable cores in a three-phase circuit be selected?

1) When the protective conductor is connected to the exposed conductive parts of the receiving equipment and the neutral conductor shares the same conductor, a four-core cable should be used. When the protective conductor and the neutral conductor are independent, a five-core cable is preferred. 2) When the grounding of the exposed conductive parts of the receiving equipment is independent of the power system grounding, a four-core cable should be used.
