These overhead insulated cables with a rated voltage of 10 kV and below are composed of compressed copper and aluminum (aluminum alloy) conductors, an inner shield, weather-resistant insulation material, and an outer shield. They combine the energy transmission characteristics of power cables with the superior mechanical properties of overhead cables. Compared to bare wire, these cables offer reduced installation spacing, increased safety and reliability, and excellent resistance to atmospheric aging. They are the preferred choice for newly designed and constructed 10 kV and below transmission lines, and are the most suitable for line maintenance and safety.


I. Production Standards

1. 1 kV overhead insulated cables: GB12527-90, equivalent to IEC60502 and IEC227;

2. 10 kV overhead insulated cables: GB14049-93, equivalent to IEC60502. II. Usage Characteristics

1. Rated voltage: 0.6/1kV, 10kV;

2. Long-term allowable operating temperature of the cable: 70°C for PVC insulation and 90°C for XLPE insulation.

3. During a short circuit (maximum duration not exceeding 5 seconds), the maximum temperature of the cable is: 160°C for PVC insulation, 150°C for HDPE insulation, and 250°C for XLPE insulation.

4. The ambient temperature during cable installation must not be lower than -20°C.

5. Allowable bending radius of the cable:

① For cables rated below 1kV: For cables with an outer diameter (D) less than 25mm, the allowable bending radius must be no less than 4D; for cables with an outer diameter (D) of 25mm or greater, the allowable bending radius must be no less than 6D.

② For cables rated at 10kV, the allowable bending radius must be no less than 20(D + d). Where: D is the actual outer diameter of the cable, and d is the actual outer diameter of the cable conductor. III. Cable Models, Names, and Main Applications (Selection Service: 0550-7308822)
