What is RVV cable?

RVV stands for copper-core PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed flexible cable, also known as lightweight PVC-sheathed flexible cable, which is what we commonly call soft-sheathed cable. RVV can be understood as consisting of two or more RV wires, then covered with a sheath. RVV cable is the most commonly used cable in low-voltage systems. It can have a variable number of cores, two or more, covered with a PVC sheath, and there are no specific requirements for the arrangement of the cores.

RVV is primarily used for power, control, and signal transmission lines in electrical appliances, instruments, electronic equipment, and automated devices. It can be used in burglar alarm systems and building intercom systems, among other applications.

RVV wire and cable are typically filled with cotton thread, PE rope, or PVC strips. The purpose of the filler: Because most conductors have a round cross-section, the filler material is necessary to provide a tight and solid support to prevent the wire from flattening when bent. The outer sheath's functions are: 1. Protects the cable's inner sheath from mechanical damage and chemical corrosion;

2. Enhances the cable's mechanical strength.

For example, an RVV model number might be: RVV2*1.5. What does each part represent?

RVV: R = Flexible Cord, V = Stranded Cord, RV = Stranded Cord (single wire, unsheathed), and V = Sheathed. RVV stands for Stranded Multi-Core Cord. 2*1.5 means two flexible cables, each 1.5 square meter in diameter. Cables with two or more cores are sheathed. 3*1.5 means three cores, and 4*1.5 means four cores.
